Necro. Because Soul Reaping in PVE is imba...
It means you can run Rit, Mo,Mes, Ele (w/o exhaustion) skills and even Paragon skills (except TNTF and SY). But if you don't want to wait for a monk, play one. I would say Rit also, but everyone and their uncle runs SoS and all their builds are boring (splinter spam, ST, SOGM spirit spam, SoS spirit spam) Last edited by LifeInfusion; Nov 24, 2010 at 03:43 AM // 03:43.. |

I've never really found out. My "main" I kind of got locked into because it was the character that got survivor... to do survivor I had to do alot of elite skill capping... after getting survivor I found myself about 40% into the legendary skillhunter title, so I just had to finish that... well, turned out that I got the first title of kind of a big deal, so I sort of had to finish the monster that I created... 1.5 years later I finally got enough done for the GWAMM title track that I can expiriment with the other classes.
Personally I really enjoy the Warrior when grouping with others. You don't have to worry about dragging dumbass heroes and henchies to their deaths as much. Also really fond of the Ele for heals. Still like my main Para when hero/henching, as his midline status is ideal for keeping bots under control. |

Probably necro for casters and sin for physicals.
Entirely based on preference though, so not much point asking without some sort of outline based on other games you've played and the characters you enjoyed playing. |

My main is my Mesmer - challenging and fun to play.
I'm going through the stuff with a ritualist, but I'm not finding much incentive to explore the profession beyond the SoS "no thinking involved" mode. |

depends on your play style...some people like the bash the snot out of others--so melee classes are their preference....others like to do support--so monks or paragons get some mention, others like to do the 'magic' like stuff--so elementalists get mentioned, etc
my main, dont have one, I have several--I play ele, monk, rit, necro and mesmer, as my main characters.

My main's an Ele tied with Rit. I kinda liked Rits with their jack-of-all-trades and such.

there is the other dual SoS support builds & Soul Twisting build you can play around. I managed to run into the Soul Twisting build while playing around with skills and people back then says its complete BS.

There is NO best. Every class serves a different purpose. With constant nerfs/buffs and updates what is considered good now could change. All you're gonna get with such an open end question is a bunch of bias answers based on user preference.

My main was something that just happened. I played randomly a lot of characters, new campaigns with new characters. I ended with a Warrior as main after 3, or so, years playing, even when that profession is not exactly the best for me. I think the best are Ranger and Necro, but is too late, sadly, I am not playing hundreds of hours again to accomplish things my Warrior already have.

I expected to find the Ranger would be my favourite but that was based on rpg games I had played on and off the computer.
GW ranger turned out to be totally different to how I imagined them being too weak in combat. Then I thought maybe Monk but again I was thinking maybe martial arts style combat monks but nope and even the double effect holy damage was a waste since huge armies of undead are scarce. Then I discovered the Necro and found my niche, you simply cannot get around the buzz of gaining strength no matter who dies you revel in it. esp if your a minion master. 1 dead enemy equals 1 ally for me 1 dead party member means one more for my army. Others I find good to play in order of preference are the Ritualist Paragon Dervish and Ele |

I love playing my Necromancer and she has been my main since I got the game. But be warned: Once you get used to Soul Reaping, it's hard to remember that your other characters (who aren't Necromancer primaries) don't have it. You can pretty much spam whatever you want, and as long as SOMETHING is dying SOMEWHERE, you'll never run out of energy.
Ranger is definitely my second favorite class to play. It's easy to get started in, everyone knows what to expect from a Hunter/Ranger class. They can do a pretty decent amount of damage, and their armor looks really cool! |

Rits can do far more than just that... I dont understand why everyone and their uncle runs those builds (SoS for the most part), when rits can do so much besides that. They can redbar (you could have your backline duo right there with a restoration rit for your healer and a ST rit for your protter), they can minion bomb (more effectively than a necro minion bomber imo), they can do strait up damage with channeling spells (make sure to bring one of the item spells for the armor penetration), and they can use spirit strength with your weapon of choice. Plus, don't forget all of the wonderful support options available to rits like the weapon spells, hexes, and support spirits.
